“I already told you not to bring work home.” Mom scolded dad. Jasper and I glanced at each other and chuckled. Dad heaved a sigh, “I was just reading an important email, sweetheart.” He muttered, closing the laptop. I gagged. I always do when mom and dad call each other by their nicknames in front of me. Dad glared at me and threw a rolled-up newspaper at me, “Grow up, Austin.” He scolded me. Jasper laughed and shook his head. He returned to New York this morning from Singapore to spend the holidays with family. He was sitting on the couch with his phone in his hand. I know he was gagging to get about work with dad, but he would never dare get around mom’s presence. My mother is a very traditional woman.
