Is this the oblivion humans felt when they die? This dark mass of pain inside his awakened body made him immobile like a stone statue beside her. This is the closest he has ever come towards the oblivion that humans fear so much. Close enough that it made him clutch on to her hand as if that would anchor him from it.
He feels so much. He feels too much. Her cold hand seeps into his body, the breath in his lungs feels like a violation. Living without her seems like a curse that he doesn’t want to bear.
Was awakening this painful for his parents? Perhaps. But then again, they didn’t have to fear the oblivion that he’s facing. They don’t fear being without the other as he does. They definitely haven’t ever felt as helpless as he does.
