The room was engulfed with silence now that the two were left alone. Thanatos held Calliope's hand and gently rubbed it. "I'm sorry," Thanatos said, breaking the silence between them. Calliope sniffed, and Thanatos quickly brushed the tears away from her eyes. "You promised me," Calliope whispered as her voice cracked. "I know," Thanatos said. "I'm sorry for breaking it," he added. He felt heavy in his heart. He couldn't stand seeing his mate cry. "I hate y-you," Calliope said and finally sobbed. Thanatos stood up, ignoring the pain in his body, and carried Calliope in his arms. He sat and leaned on the bed, comforting his mate. "I'll do everything to make it up to you…so please, don't cry." Calliope clutched Thanatos's shirt while sobbing in his chest. Remembering his unconscious b
