Nelson blurted out instinctively, dodging Dominic' gaze as it drifted to the chaotic dance floor.

He swirled his drink slowly, leaning down with one elbow propped on the table. "Come on, just look—soon as word got out we split, all kinds of shady guys started circling around her. We grew up together. Can't just sit by and let her walk into a mess."
