He was just about to knock when Claire opened the door. His hand froze mid-air, and she jumped slightly in surprise.
"What are you doing here?"
It was early. She wasn't expecting someone right outside her door—not that she scared easy, but still.
Nelson Cooper slowly lowered his hand, his brow twitching when he caught the annoyance on her face. But then he quickly slipped back into his usual calm and collected self.
"I figured it's about time to leave for work. Thought I'd ask if you wanted a ride."
Taxis were hard to get around here, and since he'd been the one who brought her over yesterday, offering her a lift seemed reasonable. But judging by her outfit, she clearly already had another plan.
Sure enough, Claire turned him down without hesitation.
