"Can't I be here?"
Serena put on a look of harmless innocence.
Dominic clearly wasn't in the mood to talk. He tried to brush past her without a word.
But Serena blocked him with a smile. "Dom, my family's hosting a dinner tonight. Wanna come with Nelson?"
He was just about to decline when she added, "It's to celebrate my sister's engagement. I know you've been abroad for years, but you basically grew up with Claire. Show up for old times' sake. Her brother would be happy too."
Dominic narrowed his eyes, hands tucked into his pockets. "Engagement? Claire's?"
Serena nodded. "Yup. You guys used to be pretty close, right? Didn't you hear about it?"
He paused, then gave a small chuckle. "Well, since you asked so nicely, how can I say no?"
She grinned. "See you tonight
