For a minute there, I thought I was going to miss the grand opening. We had an emergency at work and things took longer, like always, but here I am. I made it. I made sure to park near the flower shop and picked up the biggest arrangement they had. I walk down to the bakery and so many people are standing outside, waiting. My eyes find hers and her eyes light up. She waves at me. "You made it" she says and pulls me in for a hug. I pull away and hand her the flowers, "I wouldn't miss it for the world." I tell her. "Cali" her sister calls her and she hands me the cupcake she was holding. Someone takes the flowers from her and takes them inside. I take her in.
