The cracking sound came, followed by the huff of a large animal. Valen stepped off the horse and guided it toward the forest. I stayed quiet and still, wondering if the horses hooves were making too much noise. He slowly drew his bow and reached beside my thigh to the holster of arrows, drawing one and setting it. As he pulled, ready to fire, it came running from out the bushes and he let go, letting it fly and catch into the massive wolves head.
