Chapter 20: The Wizard’s Triumph
The Jann Suleim lifted Cari’s body effortlessly in his arms and vanished from the cavern in the depths of Mount Denavan where she lay dying. He carried her quickly into the realm of the righteous Jann, into her own home where he laid her gently upon her own bed. Even though he was not an expert, he could tell her life was in grave peril; where once her soul had burned like a bright flame, now there was barely a flickering ember to denote her presence.
His anger knew few bounds, but he could not focus it in a single direction. He was mad at that foolish human master of hers for placing her in such jeopardy. He was mad at the wizard Akar for enslaving her in the first place, and he was mad at Cari for being so foolish as to let herself be trapped into slave
