I had been about to stutter a response, but Kevin had gotten there first, giving Nicholas a disapproving frown.
“Why are you scolding her? Don’t you have respect for a member of your pack?”
Nicholas had clearly not liked this, and I had been scared that he was going to lose his temper. He had glowered at Kevin.
“It’s got nothing to do with you, Hill. Esther, come to me.”
Automatically, I started to move towards him. My head bowed, but Kevin had stopped me. To my surprise, he had stood in front of me so that I had bumped into his shoulder.
