Chapter Twenty Four
(Nia’s POV)
I woke up with a gasp.
White ceiling.
Bright lights.
A monitor beeping beside me.
My hands flew to my stomach.
“The babies,” I rasped. “Are my babies okay?”
A nurse turned from the counter. “Ms. try to stay calm.”
“Please, I need to know.”
She came closer, her expression softening. “Their heartbeats are strong. The doctor is coming in now to speak with you.”
Strong.
The word hit me so hard tears blurred my vision.
I pressed both hands over my stomach and swallowed a sob. “They’re okay?”
“Yes,” she said gently. “They’re okay.”
The door opened before I could ask anything else.
A doctor walked in with a tablet tucked under one arm. Callum followed behind him.
I tried to sit up too quickly.
