“Why do you want to stay married to me, Adrian?”
The question landed in the center of the ballroom and left no room for him to hide.
Adrian stared at me, his hand still half raised between us. For a second, I thought he might finally give me something honest.
His mouth opened.
Nothing came out.
A strange calm settled over me.
