Mia POV When adrenaline courses through my veins it fogs my brain, everything now distorted as my body smacks to the ground. I feel the pressure of his body on top of mine, but it barely registers that I am pinned beneath him – that he got me. I can only focus on one thing; he’s going to kill me. All logic leaves my mind, every single lesson my brother ever gave me in self-defense tries to surface, but it’s like my brain is dead, drowned by pure fear. He’s going to kill me. He fumbles with my hands and the rope, trying to tie them behind my back while keeping me pinned. He is mumbling something, probably threats, but all I can hear is the pounding of my heart, its rhythm a relentless drumming that echoes in my ears.
