“OH MY f*****g GOD! THIS s**t HURTS!” Chloe screamed as she tried to push the baby out. “YOU ARE NOT BRINGING THAT c**k OF YOUR NEAR ME AGAIN!” I stood there to the side, laughing as she is screaming at Alaric and mom trying to calm her down.
“Chloe, shut the hell up and focus on the baby. It is almost here and you better be prepared to become a mother in a few minutes,” mom explained her.
“Ok, Chloe, one more push and the baby will be here!” the doctor ordered, and she gave one more hard push, delivering my new cousin. “It’s a girl!” The doctor announced, placing her on Chloe’s chest. I cried because I was so happy my aunt delivered a healthy baby girl. I walked out of the room to call Jed, let him know the news, and see if he found anything out.
“How is she?” he asked when he answered.
“A royal pain in the ass, but she just delivered a healthy baby girl,” I told him. “Have you heard anything yet from Isban?”
“Their plane just landed an hour ago. They are stopping at the hospital to get their injuries properly treated and then Isban will be here. He only suffered a few scratches, but he wants to prioritize the men’s care first,” he explained.
“Ok, I will call back in an hour. Figured you should know about your new great-niece.” I hung up and walked into the room. The baby was nursing, and the doctor was stitching Chloe up. “What is her name?” I asked.
“Phoenix Morgan Wittelsbach,” Chloe said, looking at her daughter.
“To be born again,” I said, admiring Phoenix. She is so adorable, looks just like Chloe. Chloe nodded her head.
“We chose the name after we found out about Leofric. Hopefully, he will come home to us alive and well,” Alaric told me. After she finished nursing, I finally got to hold her. Phoenix laid there in my arms, studying me as I am studying her.
“You will be a wonderful person someday, just like your daddy and Uncle Leo. I hope you get to meet him some day,” I told her. I hoped that Leo and I would experience this someday, but I first need to bring him home. After an hour, I was ready to go back to the house. “Mom, I’m ready. I will teleport back, so you can stay here longer and make sure that Chloe is settled into her room." I kissed her and Chloe’s cheeks and hugged Alaric before I went into the bathroom to teleport to Leo’s study.
Jed looked up when I arrived. “You look tired. Let me take you to your room so you can get some rest.” He got up from his chair and led me to the door.
“Can I sleep in Leo’s room? I need his scent to calm me down.”
“Of course, sweetheart. I will show you the way and I will get your bag for you,” Jed agreed. We walked to the bedroom, and he opened the door for me, and turning on the lights. As I walked in, I could smell his scent surrounding me. Leo’s living room was pleasant, done in red and gold, with a big, plush couch and a couple of chairs. There was a fire going in the fireplace. “I will be right back with your stuff. His bedroom is through that door,” he said, pointing at the door across the room. He left, and I strolled to the door. I opened it and it was Leo, with dark woods and dark red. A huge California king bed was in the middle of the room, enticing me to come and lie down on it.
“Piper, are you in the bedroom?” Jed asked when he walked into the living room.
“Yeah, I’m in here,” I told him. He carried my bag in and set it down on the bed.
“I don’t think he would mind you sleeping in here. Someday, it will be your room, too, so you can get comfortable in here. Selma will be up shortly to turn down the bed and make sure you have fresh towels.”
“Thank you, Jed. I don’t want to do anything to the room until he returns,” I told him, looking around.
“Good night, Piper. Sweet dreams.” He hugged me and walked out of the suite. I opened my bag and got my nightgown and toothbrush out, and headed to the bathroom to get ready for bed. After changing and brushing my teeth, I walked out and there was a woman standing next to the bed.
“Milady, I am Selma. Jed sent me up to help you get ready for bed. Is there anything you would like?” she asked, curtsying.
“If you do not mind, I am hungry and would love a turkey sandwich with Swiss cheese and mustard on it, with a side of fresh fruit, please. It has been a long day.”
“Of course, I will bring that right up, milady.” Selma curtsied and left the room. I went to sit down on the bed and looked over at the nightstand. Sitting on there was a picture of me and Chaos at the Nationals last year. I smiled, knowing that I was the last thing he saw before he goes to sleep.
Half an hour later, Selma brought my sandwich and fruit with a bottle of water. “Thank you, Selma. I am starving.” I took my sandwich into the living room and sat down on the couch. There were pictures of Leo, with Alaric, his mom, and his baby sister. He looked so happy with the three of them. Then I looked at one picture and it was one of him and it looked like his father, Darius. I have heard stories about how demented he was, wanting to rule the world, making the humans his slaves and put the supernatural world at his mercy. He kidnapped mom once, but with the help from Jed, Alaric, Leo, and Emmie, she escaped and got back home to dad and us kids. He made her life a living hell for a few years, even burned down Gramps and Nene’s packhouse because she wouldn’t leave dad and become his queen.
I took a deep breath and inhaled his scent of pine and sea salt, making me wish he were here with me, cuddling together here on the couch. I felt a tear fall down my cheek and I wiped it away. Whoever has him will pay for f*****g with someone that I love. They will make them pay by torturing them and peeling away every inch of their skin while they scream loudly.
Exhaustion finally took over, and I set my dirty plate on the table by the door. I went into the bedroom, crawled into bed, and cuddled up to his pillow, falling asleep to his scent.
“Piper! Piper! Wake up!” Someone shook me awake. Slowly, I opened my eyes and saw Jed standing next to the bed. “I’m sorry to wake you, but Isban just got here, and he wants to talk about what happened with us. Get dressed and meet me in the study. I will take you to our meeting room so we can talk.” I nodded my head and waited until he left the room so I could get out of bed. Throwing on some yoga pants, a tank top, and a zip up hoodie, I went to Leo’s study. Jed was standing outside the door, waiting for me. When we arrived, a man was standing at the table, looking at some papers.
“Piper, I would like you to meet Isban, the general of the special ops team. Isban, this is the future Alpha at the Mountain Moon and Leo’s friend, Piper,” Jed introduced us and Isban shook my hand.
“I don’t mean to be blunt, but I would like to know what happened and where is Leo,” I told him.
“I like this one, wanting to get right to business,” Isban chuckled. “One of my scouts disguised himself as a hunter and is traveling with them right now. They are in Mexico City right now, but getting ready to fly out in the next couple of hours. We do not have enough time to get a team together and find them before they leave.”
“You may not, but I could,” I told him. “Remember, my pack is in California and is the largest in North American. I can make a call to dad and send our warriors to intercept them before they leave. We have witches and my sister to help teleport them there quickly.”
“How soon can they assemble and be ready?” Isban asked.
“They can be ready and there in ten minutes. Our warriors move fast with a last second order.”
“Do it then. Send your dad the coordinates and hopefully we can get an excellent result,” Isban ordered. I got my phone out and did a video call with dad.
“Hey kiddo, how’s Chloe? Did she have the baby yet?” he asked when he answered.
“Yeah, she did, and it’s a girl,” I responded. “But that is not the reason I called. How soon can you get our warriors together and have Kassandra and the witches teleport them to Mexico City?”
“What is going on?” he asked. I took a deep breath.
“The hunters are in Mexico City with Leo. They are getting ready to fly out in an hour. We need to intercept them before they disappear with him.”
“I will send out the link and I will call Sienna as soon as I get off the phone with you. It can be fifteen minutes, depending on Sienna,” he said.
“Do it and let me know. I will teleport there and meet you at the location.” I hung up and looked at Isban. “Are there any men available to go with me? And I need an outfit fitting for a fight.” I looked down at my outfit.
“I have three squads available, and if you come with me, I will provide you with an outfit. Are you sure we can save him?”
“If we get moving now, yes! Get everyone ready and let’s go!” I ordered him, and we left the room. As we were walking down the hallway, I got a creepy feeling. I changed my vision and found someone hiding around the corner. I held up a hand and pointed. Isban charged whoever was around the corner, and it was Connor.
“Where you just eavesdropping?” I growled at him. He was standing there, trembling.
“No, milady. I was getting ready to ask all of you if you wanted any refreshments,” he stuttered.
“Isban, do you have any cells in the house?”
“Yes, ma’am. They’re in the basement.” He pulled Connor close.
“Put him in one until we get back. I do not trust him at all,” I ordered. Isban smiled and Connor tried to protest as he was being drugged away. Jed led me to a room where there were uniforms and weapons.
“This should fit,” Jed said as he handed me an outfit. “I will take you to the study so you can change.” We left the room and Isban came running up.
“I will be right with you. There are a few things I need to grab,” and went into the armor room.
After ten minutes, I changed my clothes and got ready to leave. The three squads were up and ready to go. Isban was standing next to me, with a smile on his face when he seen how fast his men assembled. Dad messaged me and told me they were ready to go. Isban sent dad the coordinates, and I asked everyone to hold hands and be ready for a rush.
Everyone held hands, and I closed my eyes and teleported three squads, Isban and myself, to Mexico City. When we arrived, I was light-headed, using too much of my strength, teleporting over one hundred and fifty people at once.
“Are you ok?” Isban asked, looking at me with a worried look.
“Just overexerted myself, teleporting that many people,” I told him, trying to gain my balance.
“Here, sit down,” he said, leading me to a box close by. After sitting down, dad came running up.
“Piper, did you use too much of your strength to teleport that many people? Why didn’t you have your mom help you?” he asked.
“Because she is with Chloe, and I didn’t want to disturb her.” Dad growled at me.
“That is an excuse. Next time, ask for help.” He handed me a granola bar to help bring up my strength. “How many people did you bring?”
“One hundred and fifty. You?”
“Fifteen hundred.” Isban coughed, with a look of shock on his face.
“Fifteen hundred? That is a lot!”
“These fuckers attacked our home a couple of days ago, killing two of our members. I have six of their men in my cells right now,” Dad told him. “My warriors are angry about the loss of two young warriors and their brothers. They want payback.”
We got all of men ready, surrounding the airfield. Our warriors have shifted, waiting for the hunters to arrive.
“My scout just texted. They will be here in ten,” Isban told dad and me. Dad linked our warriors, letting them know to be ready. My nerves were on the edge, wanting to get the assholes who took Leo and rescue him.
