I looked toward Wade who was glaring at the floor, a slight pain piercing me when moments passed, and he didn’t glance my way. I thought he cared about me, was I wrong? I shook my head slightly, no, he was injured and overwhelmed, we would talk later. My mother stood up, her mama bear aura radiating as she glowered at Archer and Wade’s father, man it’s weird to think about that, they were brothers . . ‘Is my daughter safe now?’ she demanded roughly.
