Like a fool, Wilona could only stare, when Aaron introduced Josh as Joshua Ray William, the sole heir of The William, owner of Future Frames Enterprise.
Of course. Josh is short for Joshua. Wilona did not notice when during her inauguration as Vice President, it was also the handover of the company from Jarvis William to his grandson Joshua as the new owner, but she did not come so the handover was only done symbolically.
Wilona was too busy with the euphoria of her new assignment and then, they were involved in an incident in front of the coffee shop.
Josh said that he was on business, when Wilona asked what he needed at the company, on the day of the spilled coffee incident. Maybe at that time, Josh was indeed on his way to his office.
"... Vice President of Human Capital who had just returned from her assignment at the subsidiary company in Melbourne, Ms. Wilona Lea Miles," said Aaron.
Wilona was shocked when Tine Auben, the head of the head office secretarial staff, touched her arm gently.
"Ms. Miles, your name was called," said Tine. "You should stand up."
Wilona stood up slowly, feeling her whole body become warm, because of the sudden feeling of embarrassment that gripped her.
On the low podium in front, Josh showed a smirk that made his face look even more handsome.
"Ah, Ms. Wilona," Josh said cheerfully. "Nice to meet you again."
Everyone became interested in the word 'again' uttered by Josh.
"Oh, I just found out that you already know each other," Aaron said.
Josh moved his hand as if it was something common. "It was just a coincidence, because the coffee was spilled."
Wilona's face flushed, because now all eyes were looking at her with interest, some people even showed teasing smiles.
What were they thinking? A newly inaugurated Vice President, apparently already knew the owner of the company who had also just been inaugurated? Spilled coffee? What's the interesting story behind that?
Wilona calmed her heartbeat that had been beating faster for a moment, then put a small smile on her lips and nodded her head to Josh.
"Welcome, Mr. William," Wilona said formally, before she sat back down.
"I didn't know you already knew Mr. William," Tine said in a half whisper.
Wilona smiled thinly. "As he said earlier, it wasn't intentional. I spilled coffee on his shirt, we argued a bit, then I apologized, and that was it," Wilona replied simply.
"Oh, that would be the beginning and could continue into a romantic love story, if it happened in Korean or Japanese dramas," Tine said with wide eyes. "Besides, you're both single."
"Oh, come on, Tine, don't you see how many pairs of eyes are staring at the heir, with gazes full of hope?" Wilona said while looking around. "And they're all singler than me."
Tine followed Wilona's gaze and chuckled. "I think the office dynamics will be more colorful now."
When the introductions were finally over and everyone was invited to enjoy the dinner that had been prepared, Wilona decided not to eat a heavy meal.
She stood in front of the salad and fruit stand, enjoying sliced strawberries and green grapes in a porcelain bowl.
Her phone vibrated in her skirt pocket and when she took it out and saw the notification on the screen, she almost choked on a grape.
[That's not dinner.] Josh wrote, and there was a frowning emoticon at the end of his message.
Wilona stared at the message, hesitating whether to reply or not.
[Can your phone type a reply message by itself while you're just looking at it?] Josh typed again.
Wilona lifted her face from her phone and looked around until her eyes met Josh's. The man smirked while moving his eyebrows.
This was a awkward situation for Wilona. Previously, she had felt a little annoyed by the fact that she and Josh were involved in a continuous ridiculous incident, but she could still avoid it with some excuse.
However, it turned out that he was her boss, what should she do to avoid it? Or could she even avoid it?
Wilona sighed and typed. [Sorry, boss, I suddenly feel full, so for me that's enough as dinner.]
[Do you have any ideas on how we can get out of here and get some fresh air and a nice cup of coffee?] Josh’s message came in less than a minute.
Wilona looked at Josh, who was staring at his phone while nodding occasionally with a frown, seriously listening to the person who was talking to him.
[You have to hold on, Boss. There’s no other way.] Wilona replied with satisfaction. She chuckled and her eyes met Josh’s.
[Okay, if that’s what you say. It’s just that I’m starting to run out of things to talk about. Or… Should I tell you about how we met?] A winking face emoticon.
Wilona flinched and cursed inwardly. Damn it, Josh! It seemed like it wasn’t enough that the workload had gotten heavier after taking over as Vice President, but the one who would mess up my days even more would definitely be the boss himself.
[Just say you need to go to the bathroom, then sneak into the parking lot via the elevator at the end of the corridor.] Wilona said with a heavy feeling.
Why did she feel like she was teaching someone to do bad things.
[You'll be in the parking lot when I get there, right?]
Wilona saw that Josh could type his message without looking at his phone and was still seriously nodding in response to his conversation partner.
Is he a robot that can multitask?
Wilona sighed again, for the umpteenth time. [Okay.]
Then she approached Aaron. "Mr. Aaron, I have to say goodbye now. There's someone coming to fix the AC in my apartment and he's almost there."
"Oh," Aaron's eyebrows raised. "But, I think you need to introduce yourself personally to Mr. William junior before-- Ah, where did he go?"
Aaron looked around for Josh but didn't see him anywhere.
"I'll meet him tomorrow, in his room," Wilona said quickly.
She immediately left without waiting for Aaron to stop her again. Exiting the hall, entering the elevator and going straight down to the parking lot.
The parking lot was still full, because everyone was still busy enjoying dinner in the hall.
However, Wilona did not know which car was Josh's. She approached her own car and stood beside it while looking around. Josh was nowhere to be found.
"Boo!"
Wilona jumped and almost fell, but Josh quickly held her back.
"If this was a scene in a romantic drama or movie, then in a position like this we would look at each other lovingly, then start to move our faces closer to kiss each other," Josh said with a wink.
Wilona straightened up and moved away from Josh while pouting. Seriously! That man was going to make her life difficult.
"Luckily I never liked drama, Boss," Wilona grumbled.
Josh laughed, then knocked on Wilona's car window. "Let's go. I need a double shot Americano now."
"My car?" Wilona asked.
"Yeah, sure. I took a taxi here," Josh replied.
"But, Boss--"
Josh clicked his tongue impatiently. Wilona shut her mouth, then opened the car door and got behind the wheel. She also opened the passenger door for Josh.
As she was about to close the driver's door, Josh stopped her and bent down, until his face was so close to Wilona's that she could smell Josh's fragrant clove and mint scent.
"Wilona," Josh said.
"Hm?" Wilona felt nervous.
"Stop calling me Boss!"
