"In the house," Mack said in a low, deep voice when they arrived out on his acreage. The sinister tone of his voice raised the hairs along the back of Lucy's neck. She hopped out of the truck and briefly thought about making a dash for the tree-line. She'd never really seen Mack this pissed off at her. Not even when she was smashing bottles in his kitchen. Something about their progressing relationship and her need for independence was setting him on edge.
