The wedding party was held even more lavishly than originally planned. “Is it because the bride changed? The party looks way more luxurious than expected.” “Are you sure? I heard the second daughter is more spoiled and loved than the first one.” All the gossip Angela overheard made her fall silent. Quietly, Angela looked around at the extravagance of it all. A night party with all the glowing lights made Angela realize just how fancy the event had become. “Angela, come here. Let’s talk for a bit.” A voice she knew well made Angela turn her head, seeing Bryan, who was now calling her over. Angela stared at Bryan blankly. For some reason, Angela didn’t feel sad or even hurt, even though he had been stolen away from her. Angela decided to follow Bryan’s steps as he led her to a more secluded spot. In a corner of the room, somewhere people probably wouldn’t notice because they were too busy enjoying the party. “What do you want to say?” Angela asked, starting the conversation first. “I know you must be really disappointed by what happened, but don’t even think about ruining this party.” What just came out of Bryan’s mouth almost made Angela laugh. “Why? Why would I ruin this party?” Angela asked, lips curled slightly into a laugh, clearly mocking Bryan. Seeing that, Bryan looked a bit shocked by Angela’s expression. Didn’t she love him so much? Suddenly that question popped into his head, and it pissed him off even more as he thought about it. “Why would I ruin the happiness of the bastard child currently being carried by my father’s bastard child?” Angela asked, clearly upset as she thought about everything her mother had endured. “What did you just say?!” Bryan asked in disbelief at what he just heard. “Am I wrong?” Instead of answering, Angela shot the question back at Bryan, who was now glaring at her furiously. Bryan raised his hand and landed a harsh slap on Angela’s face. Leonard, who had secretly followed them, was shocked when he saw violence happening between them. “Don’t you have any dignity? How could you eavesdrop on someone like this?” Damian, Leonard’s assistant and his plus-one that night, felt this wasn’t the right place for them to interfere. “Didn’t you see? That woman clearly needs help, doesn’t she?” Leonard shot back, somehow feeling strongly drawn to Angela. The sound of another slap snapped Leonard and Damian’s attention back to the two after they had gotten momentarily distracted by their own argument. “Trash like you! You’re not worthy of someone as precious as me!” Angela shouted while pointing at Bryan, who had just received a slap from her. “You’d better go and put some ice on your cheek before you embarrass yourself in front of all the guests,” Angela added sharply. Hearing that, Bryan felt pissed, but he decided to leave immediately. Bryan didn’t want to cause a scene that might draw attention from all the wedding guests. “Are you still planning to help her?” Damian asked, which instantly made Leonard go quiet. “Go enjoy the party. Don’t mind me,” Leonard said, pushing Damian away. Damian had always stuck close to Leonard as ordered by his mother. Angela leaned her body against the wall, feeling weak and sad after what had just happened. Angela covered her face with both hands, wiping the corners of her eyes that had unknowingly gotten wet. “Still crying over that guy?” The sudden voice made Angela stand straight. Her hands dropped, and she looked toward the voice, her heart pounding wildly. Angela didn’t know what to say when she saw the man she had been trying to avoid ever since that night. Leonard took out his wallet and pulled out his business card, then held it out to Angela. “Seeing how brave you were just now… for some reason, I’m really interested and want to work with you.” Angela froze, wondering in her head: does this man remember her? Or maybe he doesn’t? “I’m not interested in working right now,” Angela replied, her voice trembling a bit. No matter what, Angela felt super nervous and scared that he might realize she was the one who had slept with him that night. “You can keep it and call me later, okay?” Leonard said back, strangely not feeling offended by her rejection. Usually, he hated women who played hard to get like that. “Since your love story is kinda similar to mine, I’ll even give you extra pay,” Leonard added, which immediately made Angela’s eyes go wide. “Are you seriously bragging about your love story right now?” Angela asked in disbelief when she saw him laughing after saying something so ridiculous. “I’m saying it because I’ve accepted it,” Leonard shrugged, acting like it didn’t bother or anger him at all anymore. “So? You’re not gonna take it?” Leonard asked, looking at his hand still holding out the business card. “Or do you still love him so much that you wanna ruin this party?” Leonard continued, instantly making Angela annoyed as she roughly snatched the business card from his hand. “Thanks for your offer. I’ll contact you once I make up my mind about joining you,” Angela said, turning around and walking away. “Ah… she must be pissed because her position got taken by her stepsister,” Leonard mumbled, watching Angela leave with a wide smile. Unlike Leonard, who looked entertained, Angela felt insanely nervous. She felt a bit relieved that he didn’t seem to remember her, but at the same time, she felt a little annoyed that he didn’t remember her at all. “Bastard!” Angela grumbled under her breath. Angela kept walking toward the bridal room. No matter what, she still had to greet them before completely leaving the party that was about to start. Angela didn’t want to be the center of attention by standing with the bride’s family. She would never allow herself to become the subject of ridicule and gossip that would probably happen if she stood there as the older sister of the bride who had stolen her fiancé.
