23. No Sense of Self-Worth

1232 Words

Harrison had let himself get carried away. He almost never let his guard down. And yet, because of the mixed feelings he harbored towards Mandy, he had all but taken her in the open. Neither one of them was an exhibitionist, at least not as far as he knew. It didn’t matter if the windows were tinted, and they weren’t seen per se. The driver did hear them, and that in itself was a privacy invasion in Harrison’s book. And then, she blew up at him, as to be expected. He took it all, even though he tried to imply that it took two to tango, but the message wasn’t well received to say the least. She accused him of fooling her, and he wondered when he ever played her. He had always been so honest, it bordered on the blunt sometimes and on the rude other times – or so the rumors about him said.
