I woke before him, as I usually do. Jasper had gotten used to being awake during the day and asleep at night time, however, I knew the effects of the sun made it harder for him. It didn’t hurt him, but it made him a little more tired and slightly weaker. I couldn’t really explain what I felt as I laid there staring at the ceiling. I felt safe, wrapped in Jasper’s arms. Even still, there was another feeling I couldn’t quite get past, the feeling that’s been building and building, ever since I killed that vampire. The feeling that they’re coming; and soon. I had to talk to Jaiden. I looked at Jasper’s sleeping face, taking a moment to brush my fingers through his hair, moving it off of his face. He was such a heavy sleeper now, so calm.
