I woke to the cries of James in the room next door. Jumping out of bed, I ran to his room, and found the wet-nurse fast asleep and James's eyes red with tears.
“Wake up you stupid woman! If anyone else found you like this, you would probably be sent to the dungeons!” I shouted.
“Milady!” She yawned.
“I apologize, I didn’t sleep much with my baby last night.” She tried to explain, blushing blood-red and clearly scared to death.
“It’s fine. I will not tell anyone. You are lucky it was me who found you. I need to wash and get dressed before lunch. The King has requested my presence. Will you be able to look after James?” I was worried she might fall asleep again.
