Shaina’s heart was beating loudly as she watched Vaughn half dragging Nicolette out of the kitchen and out of the house. She followed them, afraid that he might hurt her. She was relieved that he only told her to leave and to never come back, because he was going to ask his lawyer for a restraining order.
“Vaughn!” Nicolette protested, eyes brimming with tears.
Shaina understood how much Nicolette must have loved him, but she could do nothing about it. It was the rich girl’s fate not to be loved by someone like Vaughn. She felt sorry for the tall woman.
“Rhoda, leave and take that woman with you before I’ll go crazy! I might do something that we’ll all regret! I mean it this time!” Vaughn shouted at his sister. His face was red, and he heaved in vexation.
