Chapter 36 : Cornered

2100 Words

Honey I liked the courtyard. I liked all the nooks and crannies. Various flowerbeds. More colorful than the vineyard. My cheeks pinkened when I passed the rose garden, remembering what Dante did to me in that shadowed corner. Butterflies bounced around in my belly. I knew he was working, probably with Roman. And Enzo would usually be with me, making me smile while I refrained from my urge to touch him. He liked affection. Liked making me feel beautiful. He even loved to make me smile. Occasionally, he'd pluck a little blue flower and tuck it behind my ear and tell me how pretty I looked with flowers in my hair. I wondered if he'd drawn me again. I'd love to look over his shoulder while he sketched like a true artist at work. I'd forget about all the little problems at the vineyard.
