The first thing that hit me was the smell… the smell of disinfectant of course. When I opened my eyes I was surrounded by the white florescent lights of the hospital room I’d been put in. It was an unfamiliar sight to be but because the last thing I remember is watching Alexander being wheeled into an operating room that made sense. When I glanced around, my neck sore from the movement alone, I saw my body covered in both bandages and hospital clothes. And yet none of that mattered. Pushing myself from the hospital bed I tried to get to the door with urgency when a sharp pain in my arm forced me to step back towards the bed.
