COUNCIL MEMBER GROVES The witch had beaten me until I was bruised and bloody. She had used magic to throw me around like a rag doll. I hadn’t even had the chance to get one hit of my own in. Even after the beating that I had taken, I had still refused to break, so she had shut me into a silver cage. It had no door, just silver bars that had magically appeared around me. She had made it small enough that I had to sit scrunched up on the floor. I could feel my leg beginning to cramp, and I needed to stretch it, but I knew that doing so would mean burning myself on the bars of the cage.
