COUNCIL MEMBER HARPER The team that we had sent out had returned. They hadn’t found Council Member Stark. His scent had been mixed with another scent, but it had been disguised somehow. They had reported that it smelt artificial. They had lost the scent near the river. We were no closer to knowing whether Stark was a traitor who had received help from someone or a victim who had been taken against his will. Stark was one of the best fighters that I had ever met. Not many people could have gotten the jump on him. Council Member Torres was fairly certain that Stark was running. I wasn’t so sure myself. My own morality was pretty grey.
