Cadmus scampered out into the hall and excitedly chirped. He hated to be left behind, but it wasn’t safe to let him roam freely in the castle. Alexis chuckled as the dragon circled her, then stopped to sniff her companion. The dragon snorted then chirped at the stranger. Her escort leaned down, holding out his hand before Alexis could warn him to be careful. The reptile allowed him to pet its serpentine length. “Cadmus does not usually warm up to strangers so easily,” Alexis commented, “but if we have met before, it is only natural you would have met him as well.
