Caleb rushed to the hospital, his mind racing with worry about his wife Sophie and their new born baby. He had been held hostage by his brother Chase all night, but Chase had finally released him, telling him that Sophie was at the hospital and needed him.
As Caleb arrived at the hospital, he saw his stepmother Lisa sitting outside Sophie’s room. She looked up and saw him, but her expression was neutral. Caleb and Lisa had never been on good terms, but he didn’t care about that now. He just wanted to see Sophie and the baby.
“Lisa,” Caleb said, his voice firm but polite. “How is Sophie? How is the baby?”
Lisa stood up, her eyes softening slightly.
“They’re both doing well, Caleb. Sophie gave birth to a beautiful, healthy girl. The nurses are just doing their rounds now.”
