As soon as Caleb left the visit with Victor, he got into his car and settled into the driver’s seat, lost in thought. Suddenly, a voice from the backseat startled him, making him jump in his seat.
“Caleb, we need to talk.” It was Chase, his brother, and he sounded enraged. Caleb’s heart raced as he tried to process how Chase had found him.
He hadn’t told anyone about his visit with Victor, and he had been careful to cover his tracks. But somehow, Chase had managed to track him down. Caleb’s mind was filled with fear and uncertainty as he tried to think of what to say to his brother. He knew he had betrayed Chase’s trust, and he didn’t know how to make it right. Chase’s voice was low and menacing, and Caleb could tell he was furious.
