Chase stepped out of the hospital room, feeling a sense of relief wash over him. He had been by Ariel’s side for the past hour, watching as she struggled through the contractions. He knew she needed him, but he also knew she needed to stay hydrated. He decided to slip out and grab some iced water from the vending machine down the hall. As he walked down the corridor, Chase couldn’t shake the feeling that someone was watching him. He glanced over his shoulder, but saw nothing out of the ordinary. Nurses and doctors bustled past him, their faces focused on their work. Still, the feeling persisted.
