Monday morning arrived with the relentless pace of a new workweek. The city's financial district was already alive by the time Jackson stepped out of the elevator on the twelfth floor of Stone & Associates Investigations. Phones rang almost constantly behind closed office doors, printers hummed in the background, and employees hurried between departments with files tucked beneath their arms.
