Friday morning, in the school parking lot, Tristan spotted Bernie, Rachel, and the girls, climbing out of their car. Candid came running to him. She wore a red coat and bright yellow rain boots. Of course, she jumped into every rain puddle, before reaching him and Philip. “We found out that our bunny is a girl!” she screamed happily. “A girl!”
Tristan picked her up. She was getting heavy. “Did you tell the bunny?” he said, kissing her neck and catching the scent of her strawberry perfume.
“Put me down, Uncle Tristan.” She squirmed out of his arms and then shot Philip a quick look. “I saw Miss Jillian kissing a man at the store yesterday,” she told him.
