Maggie leaves messages for Cheryl over the next couple of days, fighting against her own demons, but not wanting to give up on trying to help her friend. She’s just about to go to Cheryl’s apartment when she finally receives a return message.
“Going to reopen club tonight. Do you feel like working with me?” Maggie frowned for a moment. The club had been closed until after the manager’s funeral, and Maggie knew that Cheryl was friends with the owner of the club. He had lost a lot of money since it closed, and she hopes he didn’t pressure Cheryl into working again, but when she arrives at the bar, Cheryl is humming as she packs away stock.
Maggie has no idea what went wrong the last time she saw Cheryl, but it seems whatever it was … it’s better now.
