Maggie flies up and out of bed in the middle of the night. Her heart is racing while she tries to catch her breath. It takes a beat before she can properly focus on seeing where she is. She rushes out of the bedroom, grabs her new keys on the way, and rushes out the door onto the balcony where she takes in big gulps of air. “Maggie?” Mateo sounds half asleep. “I’m sorry, did I wake you?” He steps closer, but she still feels as if she can’t breathe when he puts his hands over the sides of her arms. “You didn’t, are you okay?” She was about to say yes, but she couldn’t lie to him. “No.” “Do you want to stay out here and talk, or can we go in?” Looking out, she realizes that she’s only wearing his shirt and if anyone looked out from any of the other apartments, they would see her. “We c
