Chapter Fifty-Four

2326 Words

“Hi, Jeffrey,” I greeted the bartender when I walked in. He was a sweet older gentleman. He welcomed me with open arms anytime I wanted to come to sing after hearing me the first time.     “Mia Bexley in the flesh. Good to see you here tonight. It’s a busy one. Are you on the books?”     I shook my head. “Nope, not tonight. I’m just here with some friends. Hey, I invited someone tonight. If he happens to show up, point him to my usual spot.”     Jeffrey tipped his hat as I walked off to join Eve and Gavin already sitting in the booth we now officially took over as ours. I loved this place. It reminded me of my home away from home. The first time I sang here, everyone opened their arms to me, making me feel a part of their family. It was refreshing after the year I’ve been through.
