“I’m so sorry that I’m late,” Gavin said, rushing through the door and over to our table. “We had to stay over for a mandatory meeting after set today.” He took a seat to my right, giving me a sideways glance. Since I was bringing in a lot of money to help support us right now, Gavin wasn’t my biggest fan. At first, we hit it off. I’d like to think that we would still be really good friends if it weren’t for the fact that I was practically a freeloader right now. “Eve, what are you doing here?
