Evangelina’s POV
After updating the others on the new training I made my way to Warrick’s office. There is already a line of couples who have met their other half, their soulmate. On the outside I am happy, but on the inside I am torn.
I am happy for each of them, but it reminds me of Xavier. There isn’t a day that goes by that I miss him and think about what could have been had he not been killed. They also remind me that I have a second chance mate who does not want me. He purposely hurts me by sleeping with a chosen mate, but I cannot allow him to break the bond or I will die and it is too close to the war to do that. I need to save our people.
I get a pang of hurt in my chest as I grow closer to his door, when I reach for the door knob the door swings on its own, revealing Hadley
