Amelia Molly looks to me for guidance. I want to tell her to run, but with Ava standing between us and the door we have nowhere to run to. Neither of us could outrun a werewolf. “Guards!” Ava calls, and my bedroom door flies open as werewolf palace guards spill in. “I knew you were hiding something,” Ava sneers in my direction. I pull myself out of the covers, turning to place myself between Ava and Molly. I can hear Molly’s panicked breathing behind me. Ava laughs. “You think I don’t have spies all over this palace? I knew there was a reason you collected a second dinner last night.” A half dozen guards stand at the ready behind Ava. She backs up to get out of their way. “Maya,” Ava declares, pointing an accusatory finger at me, “is harboring an escapee.” She turns to Molly next
