Amelia I’m sitting on the sofa across from Molly in her armchair. She studies the letters I’ve written down for her. She sounds out the letters separately for “t”, “h”, and “e”. “T and H together make the sound, ‘th’,” I explain, while I practice the boxer braid from one temple to the opposite ear. Molly tries sounding out the word again. “The!” she finally exclaims when she realizes what word she’s reading. I can’t help the smile on my face. “Yes!” I’m just as excited as she is.
