“This is it,” I murmured as the cool evening air wrapped around me as I stood outside Megan’s apartment door. My heart pounded in my chest like a drumbeat and my hand hovered over the door. This was it, and I knew I couldn’t delay it any longer. Her message had been like a beacon, and I was unable to ignore it. She had reached out and this might be my only chance to set things right. It might be my only chance to rectify the wrong. I took a deep breath and closed my eyes. “You can do this,” I whispered, before I finally knocked on the door. To my surprise, the door opened immediately, as if she had been waiting for me to knock. I hungrily took her in as she smiled. Her eyes were warm, and her smile was soft.
“Hi,” she said as she stepped aside to let me in.
