“SURPRISE!”
“Aw no,” I whispered as I looked around the room. From the moment I had entered Caleb and Amy’s house, I had known something was up. The lights had been off, and the silence had been almost deafening. So, the second everyone screamed ‘surprise’, I knew I had been set up. A wave of laughter and cheers followed and as I scanned the room, I was hit with a mix of emotions. Caleb stood in the center with a smug look on his face. He knew exactly how I felt about surprise parties. Amy stood beside him and, of course, she was glowing as she rubbed her belly. I spotted a few friends from work, and then I smiled when I saw my girlfriend standing awkwardly to the side. I also spotted Casey and Lance, as well as Megan and Brendan. Wait. Megan and Brendan.
