♡ Megan ♡ It was warm inside the apartment and the faint scent of roasted coffee lingered from the pot I had made earlier. The soft hum of jazz music played in the background which blended with the rhythmic ticking of the clock on the way. I was curled up on the couch, my legs tucked underneath me as I stared at the flickering candle Brendan had lit before he had taken a seat at the dining room table with his laptop. It was the weekend, and he shouldn’t have been working, but he had a proposal to finish up before Monday. However, instead of working, he was watching me carefully. Almost as if he could sense that something wasn’t quite right. I ignored him as I played a word game on my phone. I was losing, since my mind wasn’t in it, but I didn’t want to bring up the elephant in the room.
