My life has not been any less than some stupid romantic comedy series where the hero is mocked on every other occasion available. His miseries are laughable. He resembles a walking joker. Everywhere he goes, he invites bad luck. People, instead of sympathizing with him as they should, giggle and snort at his antics.
They make fun of him behind his back while they openly ask for favors upfront. From Nyssa to Cameron and most of the people I know or meet have something or other to ask me. They expect. In a world where favor bank credits are your biggest savings, I happen to extend the helping hand.
Nothing out of generosity for the 'less fortunate' but out of expectations that they would return it when I'd need it. It's like playing the Squid Games minus the death part.
