Edward could not understand where Drake could have gone since he had no friends.
Edward knew everything about Drake. Even when Edward was not living in this country he knew everything. Who his friends were, the people that weren’t his friends, who his relatives were and as far as relatives were concerned, he had no relatives left even a few years before his Father's death. So how was it possible that he could have gone to meet with someone. Edward was scared, he was getting very nervous. He could not understand where Drake was.
