It took the rest of us some time to get it together after they fell.
"What the hell was that?" Tosh's words came out in a rush of breath.
I spun on Andre. "How did we not know?"
He made a face, frustration blowing his usual calm. "I don't know!" He said. "I saw their intent at the last second. They've been hiding this from us. I just didn't know what to look for because I didn't know it was there." He was so mad at himself he punched his thighs with both fists. "Guys, we're in trouble."
"Just spit it out," Simone said.
"They have a weapon. That works against us."
Why hadn't they showed it to us before? Tested it on us?
