Reunited
We took a side corridor hidden by a decorative panel. Not so impressive, I told myself. Just your standard bad guy hideout secret passageway. Big deal.
And yet... it was pretty cool.
I felt the hum of the beam before I spotted the others crowded against the back of the hall. It was more of a big, empty room with emitters focused toward the far wall, forming a natural barrier across the front. One of the suits hit a button on his cuff and a doorway opened in the energy curtain. I was forced at weapon-point into the cell area and felt Billy stumble into my back just as the beam hummed back to life. I spun to face the black suits, but they were already leaving. Only one remained near the exit and he refused to glance our way.
