Avery bounced down the stairs in the morning, dressed in a little pink sun dress with white flats. She walks into the kitchen, seeing her daddy preparing her oatmeal. "Father, why are you cooking instead of mother?" Avery asked in concern as she looked around for her mother. "Come here dear." Her father said, as she walked around the kitchen counter and jumped into her fathers arms. "Mother is not feeling well today, the doctor will be here shortly. Eat up and then you can go in to see mother." Avery nodded at her father with a slight smile. She jumped out of her fathers arms and ran to the kitchen table so she can eat fast and go see her mother as soon as possible. What could have happened to mother? She never gets sick. She's strong. Will father get sick next? Will mother get better? Avery thought to herself as she ate her oatmeal quietly. Avery finished her oatmeal and placed her bowl into the sink that she could just barely reach. "I am done father. May I go see mother now?" Avery asked politely waiting impatiently for her father to give her the go ahead. "Yes dear, you may. Be easy with your mother though. " He gets out as fast as he can because Avery took off running towards her mothers room as soon as she heard her fathers first word. The yes was all she needed. As soon as Avery barged in her mothers room she saw the doctor walking over towards the door, as her mother laid there coughing and looking deathly sick. "Its not good." The doctor says to Avery's father who is now standing in the door way. "She will most likely not make it through the night. I am sorry." The doctor then exits the room and heads out of the house. Avery walks slowly to her mother and looks at her in concern. "What does the doctor mean when he says not make it through the night?" Avery asks as her mother and father look at each other and then back towards her. It was almost as if they had a silent conversation. "Come here dear." Her mother says as she pats the bed next to her weakly. Avery cautiously sits down on the bed next to her mother and slowly rests her head on her mothers shoulder. "What do you think it means?" Her father asks her slowly. Almost as if he doesn't want to hear the answer. "That mother is going to die. Are you going to die mother?" Avery asks sadly as she snuggles into her mother more, for comfort. "You are very smart my dear. Yes I am going to die and I want you to remember three things. First, always stay kind, brave and loving, that makes you who you are. Secondly, always remember that I love you and so does your father, everything we do is to protect you dear. Thirdly, always remember the night time story I tell to you. It is very important you do this. " Mother says while she coughs in between words. Avery grabs mothers cup so she can drink some water. After her mothers done, they lay back down together and father joins them. "Of course I will do those three things for you mother. I love you and father very much." Avery says sadly as she wipes away a tear falling down her cheek. "Would you like to hear the bed time story one last time?" Mother asks, hopeful. She seems so happy to be able to tell Avery the story one last time that Avery just can't say no. "Yes mother, please do." Avery says as cheerfully as she can. "Great, listen closely dear. Once upon a time there were three vampire kingdoms. One in Charlesville which is ruled by Charles, one in Hugeton which is ruled by Henry and one in Fiddlton which is ruled by Fredrick. All three rulers got along but did not want to ever combined Kingdoms that was until Fredrick's daughter and Henry's son, their only heirs went missing. Charles was able to pass his kingdom on to his heir and now has their next heir, which is a son named Damien and he is nine years old. Henry and Fredrick still rule their kingdoms and have not produced any new heirs. They have waited and hoped that one day their son and Daughter would return but little do they know that their son and daughter fell in love and concieved a beautiful little girl. The heirs have chosen not to return to their kingdoms so that one day their little daughter can claim both kingdoms as her own. So that the vampire kingdoms can start to become united." Mother says dreamily as if she really knows these people. I wish vampires were real, how cool would that be? Avery thinks as she day dreams about her mothers favorite bed time story. Until her mothers voice cuts in to her thoughts. "Remember Avery you can not show any one your special abilities. No one at all." Mother says seriously. That's right, I have these weird abilities my mother says is because I am just to smart and my brain developed things thats are usually not humanly possible. I can run lightening fast, mother calls it zooming. I can think about a place I want to be and next thing I know I am there, Mother calls it teleportation. I can move things with my mind, mother calls it telepathy whatever that means. Then I can control all the elements, mother calls me an elemental. She says that humans who open up their minds can preform these kind of powers all because of their extremely high intelligence. It is amazing. Mother says some people will try to use me for evil though so I can't tell anyone at all. Only mother, father and I know. Not even fathers best friend Gerard who he works and travels with. I hate keeping it a secret but I also don't want to be a freak, so I listen to mother and father. Avery thinks about everything before replying to her mother. "I promise, mother." Avery says in the most sincere way she can muster at only six years old. That night Celia died from a vampire poisoning called vervain that only father knew about, Avery doesn't know they are vampires yet. Someone must have figured out Celia was a vampire or worse.
