Madison said the men came from the blind side that leads to the swamp. It had been years since I had been out that way, the swamps would most likely be frozen over still and could make passing over them easier. We call it the swamp because once the snow melts it becomes a soggy muddy mess that mosquitos and mud crabs love. If you try to cross it once the snow has melted, you can get stuck to the waist in the mud, making crossing it almost impossible. However, the gorges are difficult to cross.
