SILAS POV “Okay,” I said, clapping my hands once. “Breakfast champions, cleanup time.” Sebastian groaned dramatically. Stephan nodded like this was a sacred duty. When they were done and distracted by a cartoon in the living room, I poured myself another half cup of coffee and leaned against the counter, eyes locked on the hallway. Five more minutes, I told myself. I didn’t make it to three. I moved down the hall quietly, not wanting to startle her if she was asleep. I stopped just short of the bathroom door, listening. Nothing. I knocked once, softly. “Sunshine?” Silence. My jaw tightened. I knocked again, firmer. “Helena?” Still nothing. My pulse spiked hard enough to make my vision blur.
