Chapter 13 - A Second Attempt

2284 Words
Evangeline "What? No!" I shouted, feeling mortified. I looked over at Lars who was... Smirking at me? Lars then started to walk towards me with mischievous eyes and a cheeky smirk plastered on his face. I backed away from him, eyeing him suspiciously. I took a step back as he took one forward. But soon the small of my back hit the counter, and Lars took the last step forward, standing right in front of me. I was blushing fiercely, and the worst part was that Leon was just standing there looking at us with amusement, as if he was watching some movie. Lars kept his gaze fixed on me, which made me want the earth to swallow me. I could feel the red rising to my cheeks and I tried to escape from the side but Lars kept his hands on the counter on either side of me, caging me. I don't know why, but I was blushing a bit too much. I looked up at him and he was still smirking. Then he started leaning in and I started leaning backwards, and thankfully there was no wall stopping me this time. I continued to back away as much as I could, but soon I was in an uncomfortable position and couldn't lean backwards any more. Suddenly Lars wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me to him, almost slamming me to his rock-hard chest. I looked up at him with wide eyes and he suddenly pulled me into a hug, lifting me in the air. I quickly hugged him back tightly, scared that I'd fall. He placed his chin on my shoulder, near my ear and whispered, "Thank you, Angel." The way he said it made my heart flutter and my kneels felt weak, thank goodness he had lifted me up, or else I would fall. So much for a hug, though. "Awwwwww," Leon cooed suddenly making me flinch. I had forgotten he was still in the room. Lars put me down and looked at Leon, raising an eyebrow. "You two look adorable together," Leon said faking a dreamy face. I blushed. "Shut up, bitch." Lars mocked. "You mean d**k," Leon replied. I chukled at their conversation. "Someone's finding it funny," Leon teased and I grinned at him. I noticed Lars looking at me with an expression that I couldn't read. "I think you should go to sleep," Leon said. "It's quite late." The thought of sleeping made me yawn. I nodded at him and left the kitchen. As soon as I reached the door of my room, a thought struck me. I decided to take a water bottle from the kitchen in case I felt thirsty in the middle of the night. I turned around and made my way back to the kitchen. I was about to enter when I heard Leon say, "You like her, don't you?" Hearing his words made me freeze in the spot, and I wanted to know Lars' reaction so I hid behind the door, eavesdropping on their conversation. "Like who?" Lars asked. "Your little Angel," Leon replied, dragging the 'A' in Angel. "What? No!" Lars whispered. "And keep your voice down, i***t!" "Don't deny it, you've never cared for a girl like that except for you know who. You beat up your bestfriend, your buddy for Eva," Leon tried to justify. Okay, he did beat up Caleb. "Listen you dickiot, you better shut up before I rip your balls off and feed them to you!" Lars whispered as loudly as he could. Eww. "Dickiot" Leon asked confused. "It's a combination of d**k and i***t. The meaning is quite clear. In case you still don't understand, you can see it in the mirror." Lars said, as if he was explaining something really important. Okay, I'm going to burst out laughing any second. "Wow, gotta admit, that was insulting!" Leon said, I bet he had kept his hand on his heart!! "IKR," Lars replied casually. "Okay, so as I was saying, I know you like her," Leon said again, making me suck in a breath. "Admit it, dude." I then heard Lars huff. "You won't stop will you?" He asked. "Nope," Leon said. "Not until you admit it." "Then keep going." "Okay, you don't like her, but I do." Leon stated, making my eyes widen. What the real hell?! "What the f**k dude?!" Lars said, now out of his 'keep your voice down' thing. "That's why I was asking you. I was confirming that I don't need to feel threatened by you." Leon said. "Stay away from her!" Lars gritted out, his tone making it obvious that he was fuming. "Man, what's your problem? Let go of my collar! You don't even like her!" Leon said, a hint of anger in his voice. "Listen, you dipshit! Don't even dare to look at her!" Lars shouted, "She's mine!" What? And then I heard a loud noise of dishes clattering, followed by sounds of running footsteps from outside which meant that one of the other guys was coming this way. Shit. As much as I wanted to know what happened next, I didn't want to get caught eavesdropping. They were still my kidnappers. So I turned and ran to my room quickly, closing the door behind me. "Phew," I sighed. That was a narrow escape! I lied down on my bed and looked at the ceiling. Did Lars actually yell "She's mine!" or am I starting to hallucinate? No, I'm sure I wasn't hallucinating stuff. Does that mean... Holy s**t. He likes me? Okay, calm down. It's not necessary. Maybe he just meant that I belong to him as he kidn*pped me. Yeah, that could be it. But why does my heart feel a pang of hurt at this thought? Just go to sleep, Evangeline. Sleep solves it all. And with that I closed my eyes but after an hour of shuffling sides on my bed, I sat up again. I just couldn't sleep with the thousands of things that were going through my mind. I was too curious about what happened in the kitchen after I left. So I decided to see for myself. I got up and went to the kitchen to see that they were not in the kitchen anymore. Duh, you don't expect them to fight for one whole freaking hour do you? I rolled my eyes at myself and went to the main hall. It was dark since no one was there, the only light that allowed me to see was the moonlight shining through the windows. And then suddenly a thought came to my mind. The main door was right in front of me. I still remembered the password being '15081995'. Should I try my luck? Now I started to think of reasons to try and not to try. The reasons to try included the thought of being reunited with my family and friends, getting away from that sick bastard Caleb, getting my normal, routine life back and that I was probably starting to develop Stockholm Syndrome and leaving that place could solve it. The reasons to not try escaping included the fact that I could just get caught again, I was really starting to like Lars and he'd get upset if I betray him like that (not that it made any sense but still), I really liked the guys' company (other than Caleb of course), I didn't really know where I was and there was a possibility that I wouldn't reach home and that this house was gorgeous. Hmmm... I'm gonna go for it. The reasons for not going were all lame, to be honest, except for the one where I didn't know how to find my way back. But I was certain I'd figure something out. I started walking towards the door, tip toeing, ensuring that I didn't make any sound. I finally reached the door and was now standing in front of it. I removed the cover of the keypad on the wall and with trembling fingers, started keying in the password. 1 5 0 8 1 9 9 I typed slowly. Now only one last number was left and then I would be free. Free to return to my family, free to meet my friends, free to go wherever I wanted. I took a deep breath and raised my finger to press the last button. But just as I was about to press it a hand grabbed my waist from behind, lifting me up into the air, and another hand covered my mouth, muffling my screams. I was then dragged backwards and I screamed and screamed, kicking my legs in the air, pulling on the hands trying to get free. Tears rolled down my cheeks as I watched the main door getting further and further away from me. I was then dragged upstairs and into Lars' room and pinned to the wall, with one of my hands pinned to the wall behind my lower abdomen so that it was stuck behind my own body. I looked up at Lars who then pinned my other hand on the wall by my side using one of his own and covered my mouth tightly with his other hand. I looked at him with wide eyes, tears continuously flowing from my eyes. I tried to speak but my voice was muffled by his hand. My wrists started to hurt, one due to the weight of my body plus Lars' body pressed very tightly against mine and the other due to Lars' tight hold. I squirmed but that only made him tighten his hold even further, if that was even possible. I was trembling and sweating, looking at the furious Lars. I'm so dead. "What do you think you were doing?" He whispered, saying each word slowly, with so much anger that it sent shivers down my spine, even though he had not even raised his voice yet. I tried to speak but of course, couldn't. "You tried to escape, just after you were treating my wound? I had started to trust you damn it!" He now yelled and removed his hand from my mouth just to punch the wall beside my head, making me flinch and gasp. "Lars, I-" I tried to speak but he covered my mouth again, very tightly, muffling all my words. "Sshhh..." He shushed me as I looked into his eyes which contained only one emotion - anger. He just stood there staring at me, his gaze burning my insides. I stood there sniffing, looking into his eyes. My hands were now hurting really bad. I squirmed trying to get him to loosen his hold. He looked at me, the anger in his expression replaced with dislike and then he removed his hand from my mouth, looked away from me and threw me towards the door of his room swiftly. I stumbled and caught the handle of the door just in time to regain my balance, preventing me from falling. I breathed heavily and looked at my wrists which were now red. I then turned to look at Lars who was standing with his back towards me. "Lars, I-" I tried to speak but he cut me off. "Get out of my house," he spat. My eyes widened. "What?" I asked, shocked. "Just leave!" He yelled very loudly, making me flinch and I opened the door and ran. I kept running, wiping away the tears from my face till I reached the door. I pressed the last number on the keypad, '5' and the door unlocked. I pulled the handle quickly and ran out of the house, onto the road which was surrounded by trees. I kept running aimlessly, as I didn't know the route anyway. I was overwhelmed at the thought of meeting my family again as I ran freely, but a small part of me wanted Lars to remain in my life. However, my family was more important to me, so I kept running where the road took me and soon I reached a proper street, with shops around. I was tired and out of breath so I slowed down my pace and after a few minutes I was merely walking, still catching my breath and panting. The street was quiet and empty as it was late but soon, I saw four guys walking towards my direction from the other side of the road. I ignored it and continued to walk, and soon I walked past them, sighing with relief when they didn't stop. I walked a few steps further when suddenly someone grabbed my wrist from behind, turning me around and pulling me into a chest. The smell of alcohol flooded my nose as I gasped and tried to push the guy away but he didn't budge. His friends hooted and whistled as he smirked at me. "Let me go!" I shouted, punching the guy in his face, as hard as I could, making his nose bleed. He let go of me and I ran, but the other guy caught me and threw me in the opposite direction. I went stumbling, and was about to fall when I was caught by another guy who winked at me and shoved me in another direction, as if I was a ball and these assholes were playing catch. The fourth guy caught me and threw me back towards the first guy, but before I reached him, someone else grabbed my waist from behind and turned me around. I then looked up to see those gorgeous, familiar brown eyes staring down at me. I then looked up to see those gorgeous, familiar brown eyes staring down at me. *****
